Noisy. Covered in paper flakes. Nothing but sibilance. I’m so disappointed with this purchase.
Quamar
? I have this release and absolutely bought it on RSD with the special plastic wrapping for it.
Larosa
Agreed, this is definitely not 180 gram weight , ,
Thetalune
Mine is numbered #681... anybody know whats up with that?
Trash
Limited numbered edition of 600 copies. The foil-stamp numbering is random; because only 600 of the original 1000 survived shipment, numbering will vary.
WOGY
My copy sounds great. I am very glad that I picked it up.It only had the black "Music on Vinyl" sticker, but not the orange sticker.
Bladecliff
I'm not sure what the problems are that surround this press, but this press is the exact one I own. RSD sticker and all, and like octagnsurferz, it sounds absolutely amazing. Everything, ESPECIALLY the vocals and bass as super clear and sounds much more modern than it actually is. This and Kendrick Lamar's 'good kid m.a.a.d city' are the main records I use to show off the sound of my setup. Amazing all around.

Is this really 180g? Feels flimsier than that . .
Lbe
There is no way this is 180g. I compared it to a 180g just to make sure I wasn't losing my mind. This feels like it is a standard vinyl.

This must have been re-pressed after Record Store Day because the copy I have doesn't have the faults described, and believe me, I'd be the first person to complain about sound quality if it did. Quite the contrary, it is one of the best sounding records I have ever heard, particularly in the depth of the bass (Funky Ride has never sounded better). Yes, they could have added back in the songs that were cut, but did not, because they wanted to stay authentic (see also their reissue of David Bowie's Excerpts From Outside, which was not the full Outside album because it was a reissue of the original vinyl release).I would recommend it, although if the full album gets pressed as a double LP that would be even better.

is anyone familiar with the chopped and screwed version of this album?? Outkast - Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik (20th Anniversary Edition C&S)
Sironynyr
I'm surprised by how many people are complaining about the sound quality of this release. There are so many extremely popular hip-hop releases, reissues included, that sound much, much worse than this one (some of which are practically unlistenable) but I see no complaints on any of those release pages. For the record, I am usually the first to complain about this sort of thing.
mr.Mine
Apparently this release has a standard re-issue now? Anyone care to confirm?
Akelevar
As usual, noz said it best:"…avoid the Outkast album entirely. As with the original promo-only vinyl release, this new pressing omits a few songs to squeeze the rest onto a single disc. I’m going to assume the sound quality is as compromised as it was on the original too. This is precisely why Record Store Day is a complete waste of time and plastic - rather than taking the opportunity to give one of the greatest albums of all time a proper remaster across a double LP so people can, y’know, actually hear it in all its glory they give us a stamped and numbered limited edition trophy item to hang on the wall (or resell on Ebay)." — Andrew Nosnitsky http://tumblinerb.com/post/83231561289/i-understand-your-contempt-for-record-store-day-due-to

Lol, nice...I especially like this part. So true:'' In the ‘90s the popular conspiracy theory was that labels were purposely self-sabotaging sound quality on new release vinyl as to herd consumers to the new and superior compact disc format. They pressed shitty records because they didn’t want you to buy it. Today they press shitty records because they know you’re going to buy it anyway.''

I wasted my money, don't waste yours. I will never listen to this piece of vinyl ever again. Without a doubt the worst quality pressing I have ever heard.
xander
I have to agree with what the previous posters wrote - the local record joint was charging $27 for this, I bought it and it the worst quality record I have ever heard (sound quality is to low and has to be played much higher then OG pressings of this album = OG plays fine at 10 this has to be played at 13/14 in order to compensate for the low hissy quality, to be honest not worth listing to or the money I paid for it - complete ripoff if you ask me. lewisskolnick is correct this should have been a 2XLP right now its an overpriced RSD trinket if you ask me.
Rollers from Abdun
Sound quality fail... Still a great album, but ahould have been a 2xlp.
Went Tyu
They're the same, Music On Vinyl just picked up an extra 1000 from LaFace/BMG as a Europe only release for RSD. So far, it sounds a bit flat and lower volume in comparison to the OG pressing. Also, I had issues with Ain't No Thang, there was the occasional choppy and skippy sounds that would come up from time to time. Overall, it's a nice substitute to the now very expensive OG pressing if you don't have this album at all, but it just sounds a little flat, hissy, and you need to turn the volume up for it. Just my 2 cents.
Vital Beast
I originally thought that it would have been a 2xLP myself. Someone had dropped that rumour on the internet and that's the idea I'm sure a lot of us had had.

Im interested to know more about the quality, i have a copy en route but i wont be opening it or keeping it if the quality is poor, any replies appreciated (maybe worth noting i have a Music on Vinyl copy and not a Laface copy if it makes any difference?)
Whiteseeker
This pressing is god awful. There's just no output, not even with a +12dB gain adjustment. What a rip off.
Bodwyn
I got number 161 !!! fuckin stoked haha great album!
Tansino

Ranenast
I don't understand the people trying to flip this. This is going to continue to be pressed at retail price. This was not an exclusive, just a RSD launch day title.
Painshade
Agreed. I understand the original pressing going for high, considering that it's nice to have the original, but the re-issues would usually come from a digital recording source, so it wouldn't sound as nice as the OG.
Aver
Within 2 hours of rsd I saw 25 listings of this on ebay lol so ridiculous that people make everything "rare or exclusive" and not about having the fucking music to listen to
Grokinos
Remember when rap was this good? Those were the days.
Rivik
This is getting a vinyl re-release for Record Store Day (2014).
Уou ll never walk alone
Yeah, I just got my hands on a copy!
